Generate a template with AI
Describe the document you need, inspect the source and preview, and save a layout you can reuse.

A conference handout, a thesis progress report, or a one-page resume can start with a description of the layout. Oleafly generates editable source and lets you keep the result in your template library.
Before you begin
Section titled “Before you begin”Connect an AI provider, then choose New project → Use a template → Generate a template with AI. The generator has its own model selector beside Generate.
Describe a reusable layout
Section titled “Describe a reusable layout”Include the document type, engine, page size, structure, and formatting you need. Use this prompt for a small report:
Create a two-page LaTeX research progress report using the article class. Use A4 paper, 11-point text, and 25 mm margins. Include a title, author, abstract, sections for Question, Work completed, Results, and Next steps, plus a small results table. Use fictional placeholder content and standard packages. Keep the source easy to edit.
- Paste the prompt into the description field.
- Choose a provider and model.
- Click Generate, or press ⌘Enter / Ctrl+Enter.
- Wait for the generated layout. Inspect its name, category, engine, and included sections.
For a resume, specify a single column, real text, section order, and the page limit. For a thesis, specify the class, chapter structure, front matter, and bibliography approach. Exact institutional requirements belong in the prompt; the generator cannot infer a university’s current style guide.
Inspect the result
Section titled “Inspect the result”Switch between Preview and Source. The source view shows the generated document, including its class, packages, and layout settings. Preview generation is available for the generator’s supported LaTeX path; other engines can be compiled after creating the project.
Check that the headings and placeholders match the requested structure. Use Edit description to change the saved description. Regenerate creates another draft from the same request.
If a LaTeX draft fails its preview build, you can regenerate it or create a project and repair it in the editor. The compilation result is shown with the draft.
Save and use it
Section titled “Save and use it”- Save template adds the layout to the AI Generated gallery category for later use.
- Use this template saves it automatically and continues into project creation.
- Saved / Unsave controls whether the generated template stays in the gallery.
Name your new project and create it. Replace the placeholder content, compile, and inspect the PDF. Later, choose the saved template again to start another report with the same structure.
Make the layout work for your team
Section titled “Make the layout work for your team”Keep reusable instructions separate from report content. For example, ask for a fixed title block and section structure, then write each project’s actual findings after creation. Export a source ZIP when someone else needs the editable project.
