Comment on text in a shared project, mention people, reply, resolve and reopen threads, and what happens when comments are turned off.

Este conteúdo não está disponível em sua língua ainda.

Comments let you discuss the text without changing it. They live with the shared project, so everyone in it sees the same threads. They never go into your files or your PDF.

Owners, editors and reviewers can comment. Viewers can read comments but not write them.

  1. Select the text you want to comment on.
  2. Choose Add comment from the menu that appears over the selection, or from the right-click menu.
  3. The Comments pane opens with the text you selected quoted at the top. Write your comment and select Comment.

Lines that have comments get a marker beside them in the editor. Select the marker to show those comments.

A comment stays attached to its text while people edit around it. If someone adds words inside the commented text, the comment grows to cover them.

You can comment while you’re offline. Your comments go out with your other changes when you reconnect.

Type @ in a comment or reply and pick a person from the list. They get an entry in Activity saying you mentioned them, with Show comment to jump to it.

If the server sends email, the person you mention also gets an email a minute or so later. It names who mentioned them, the project and the file, the text the comment is on and the comment itself, with a link that opens the comment in Oleafly. Mentions that arrive within that minute come together in one email.

Nobody gets an email about their own comments, or about a project they can’t open. Editing a comment never sends the same mention twice. To stop mention emails, open Settings → Collaboration, find the server’s card and turn off Email me when someone mentions me in a comment.

  • Reply adds to the thread.
  • Resolve marks the discussion as done and hides the thread. The thread shows who resolved it.
  • Show resolved comments at the top of the pane brings resolved threads back into view. Select Reopen on one to make it active again.

If two people resolve or reply at the same moment, everyone ends up with the same thread.

You can change only what you wrote yourself. Open the actions menu on your comment to edit or delete it. An edited comment is marked Edited. A deleted one leaves the note “This comment was deleted” so the replies still make sense.

To remove a whole thread you started, choose Delete thread from the thread’s actions menu. If someone else already replied, the thread stays. Resolve it instead.

The Comments pane opens from the project rail. It shows the comments for the whole project, grouped by file, with the file you have open first. A file with no comments doesn’t get a section. When the project has no comments at all, the pane says so in one line.

Select Show in the editor on a thread to go to the text it’s about.

Suggested changes also appear in this pane. Read Suggest changes.

When all the text a comment was on gets deleted, the thread moves to a Detached section with the note “The text these comments were on was deleted.” You can still read the discussion there.

Oleafly checks who wrote each comment. If it can’t confirm the author, it marks the comment “Couldn’t verify who wrote this”.

The project’s owner can turn comments off in the Share dialog with the Comments switch. A server admin can turn them off for every project on the server with Allow comments. Either way, comments are hidden but not deleted. Turning them back on brings every thread back, and everyone in the project sees the change straight away.

While comments are off, nobody can add or change them, and the pane says why.

Sometimes a person writes a comment while offline, and the owner turns comments off before it reaches the server. When that person reconnects:

  • The comments aren’t sent. A notice says “Comments are turned off for this project, so the comments you wrote weren’t sent.”
  • Show what you wrote lists the text of those comments, and Copy text copies it so you can keep it elsewhere.
  • Everything else the person wrote is sent as usual. Only the comments are held back.
