arXiv Citation Generator

An arXiv ID is enough to build a useful reference. The generator retrieves the paper record, puts every important field in front of you, and shows both the formatted citation and its BibTeX.

Use it when

• the paper is on arXiv and you need a citation quickly;
• you want to compare the same record across common styles;
• you need BibTeX but want to inspect the metadata before saving it.

If the paper has a final journal DOI, cite the version you actually read and follow the venue’s policy. DOI to BibTeX may be the better route for the published version.

Build the citation

1. Open arXiv Citation Generator, or run /arxiv-citation.
2. Enter an ID such as 1706.03762 or paste an arXiv URL.
3. Choose Look up.
4. Review the title, authors, year, venue, and URL. Correct a field if needed.
5. Choose APA 7, MLA 9, Chicago author-date, IEEE, Harvard Cite Them Right, Vancouver/NLM, AMA 11, or ACS.
6. Copy the reference, in-text citation, or BibTeX. You can also save a .bib file.

The lookup needs a network connection. Editing and formatting after retrieval happen on your device.

Check before citing

arXiv records can describe preprints, accepted manuscripts, or versions that differ from a published paper. Confirm the version, author order, date, and whether your target style expects an arXiv identifier, URL, access date, DOI, or publication venue.

Need the paper source too?

arXiv to LaTeX downloads the source bundle for permitted study or reuse. Citation generation retrieves metadata, not manuscript files.

Style output is a strong draft, but a journal’s local rules can differ from the named style. Compare one final reference with the venue’s current author instructions.
