LaTeX to Word

LaTeX to Word makes a familiar handoff possible without giving up editable equations. It is useful for a coauthor, editor, or reviewer who works in .docx and needs to comment on the text rather than inspect source code.

Use it when

• a collaborator needs Track Changes or Word comments;
• a submission asks for a Word file;
• you need editable prose and equations in Office Math format.

Use PDF when exact pagination is the agreement. Word may reflow the document according to the recipient’s fonts, page settings, and application version.

Create the Word file

1. Open LaTeX to Word, or run /latex-to-word.
2. Paste the LaTeX source.
3. Choose Convert.
4. Save converted.docx.
5. Open the file in Word or another compatible editor and inspect the entire document.

Expect the layout to change

Word and LaTeX solve page layout differently. Standard headings, paragraphs, emphasis, lists, tables, citations, and math provide the strongest results. Publisher classes, custom macros, float placement, advanced tables, TikZ figures, and package-specific commands may be simplified or omitted.

Check these before sending the .docx:

1. Equation structure and numbering.
2. Figure presence, size, and captions.
3. Table widths and merged cells.
4. Footnotes, citations, and bibliography.
5. Heading levels and page breaks.

Conversion stays on your device. Keep the LaTeX project as the source of truth unless the team has agreed to continue in Word.
