Why we build Oleafly
A writing workspace built around local files, capable tools, and optional AI.
Writing a paper already asks a lot of you. The workspace should make it easier to stay with the argument, check the evidence, and turn the draft into a document you can share.
Own the source
Section titled “Own the source”Your work stays in LaTeX, Typst, Markdown, BibTeX, and ordinary project assets. You can edit it elsewhere and choose how to back it up. Oleafly’s interface helps you work with those files.
Write without an account
Section titled “Write without an account”Download the app and start writing. The editor, local compilation, and document tools do not require an Oleafly account or subscription. The project is open source under the AGPL-3.0 license.
Bring help when you need it
Section titled “Bring help when you need it”AI is optional. Connect a model API, run a local model, or use an installed CLI agent. Give it a bounded job, inspect the evidence, and choose the approval policy that suits the work.
Research tasks provide a separate copy and a final file review. Your judgment stays part of the process.
Keep recovery close
Section titled “Keep recovery close”Successful builds can save checkpoints automatically. Git gives you named commits and a path to remote sync. Both should be accessible while you write, rather than something you remember after losing a revision.
Check the document people receive
Section titled “Check the document people receive”The PDF matters alongside the source. Preview the pages, inspect extracted text, and use Preflight to catch specific layout, reference, and submission problems before sharing.
