Word to LaTeX

Word to LaTeX turns a .docx handoff into source you can place in a paper. It carries over common document structure, converts supported equations, and extracts embedded media so the text and figures do not arrive as separate cleanup projects.

Use it when

• a coauthor drafted in Word but the manuscript will continue in LaTeX;
• a venue supplies content in .docx and expects a LaTeX submission later;
• you want editable source rather than attaching the Word file to a project.

Keep working in Word when Track Changes is still active or collaborators have not finished reviewing. Conversion does not preserve a live revision history.

Convert the document

1. Open Word to LaTeX, or run /word-to-latex.
2. Choose a .docx file up to 128 MB.
3. Select Convert.
4. Review the LaTeX and the extracted files under assets/.
5. Save the result or create a LaTeX project, then compile it.

The bundled local converter maps headings, paragraphs, emphasis, lists, links, tables, footnotes, and supported Office Math into LaTeX. Embedded images are kept beside the output rather than discarded.

What Word cannot decide for LaTeX

A Word style name does not identify the journal class or package you need. Floating objects, text boxes, drawing shapes, complex tables, custom numbering, tracked changes, comments, and unusual equation features may be simplified.

Before continuing:

1. Accept or reject tracked changes in a reviewed copy.
2. Compare every equation and table.
3. Check that image files open and captions point to the right figure.
4. Apply the required LaTeX template.
5. Rebuild citations from reliable metadata rather than trusting display text alone.
